Super easy. Made in minutes. Less than 10 ingredients. Now that’s a dip to root for.
I don’t know why I don’t stock this dip in my fridge more often? Oh yeah, I try but Logan eats it all before it can even hit the fridge. NOT JOKING. Hand him a bag of tortilla chips and bowl of black bean dip and he’ll see you… when either the bag or the bowl is empty. He takes in very little air as well during this process. He’d probably make an awesome swimmer.
A lot of people really don’t understand the amount of food Logan consumes. When I’ve gotten into those random conversations with a complete stranger (yeah those weird ones) and they say “that’s a guy for you,” – I have an incredibly hard time not shaking the living daylights out of them and yelling “YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!” But since they would probably go all stranger danger on me, I try to refrain.
If you’ve ever seen the Lord of the Rings movies, when the Hobbits mention all the meals they normally enjoy during their day – yeah Logan’s kind of “people!” Just the other day when we were talking about daily meals and eating meals but in smaller amounts he said “well aren’t you supposed to have eight small meals a day.” WHHHAATTT??? Where in God’s green earth am I going to put eight meals a day? Then he guessed six. *shakes head*
So if you have a Logan or plan on “accidentally” making this your meal (cough not me cough) you may want to consider doubling your dip up so that it actually does make it to the fridge.
This simple black bean dip is another great throw it all in the food processor/blender and come out the other side with deliciousness. It’s a super easy Sunday football dip (that is actually healthy, shhhh). It’s football-y. Come on it’s a dip, it completely qualifies no matter what. And if you want to give this dip a kick feel free to add some cayenne or Tabasco to knock some socks off.
Beyond parties though this black bean dip also makes for a great anytime snack. And in my opinion, it’s a more versatile dip than salsa. No salsa I am not making a dig I love you just the same. But people! You can tackle black bean dip with tortillas chips, crackers, veggie sticks and on and on. You’ve definitely got your options. And as I quietly mentioned it is a healthy dip option. Main ingredient: black beans. Other ingredients: lime juice, garlic, water and spices. Clean eating at it’s finest my friend. What a great option right?
So let’s throw these (most likely) already on hand ingredients, blender it up and dip baby!
- 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 garlic clove, pressed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 – 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin
- salt to taste
- In a food processor or high speed blender add all ingredients and blend until smooth. Taste and add more spices, salt and/or, water to smooth.
- Refrigerate until ready to serve.
